Delta 44 and MIDI?

Was advised on another thread to ditch my Audigy II Platinum sound card and get something decent. I've noticed that a lot are using the delta 44 card but looking at it I can't work out how to get MIDI in and out. Is external MIDI not an option or do I need some additional hardware?

if your card sounds ok, use it. the 44 doesn't have a midi interface, but the 66 does and isn't much more money. you could also use a usb midi interface.

At the risk of duplicating threads:- I've got this annoying problem which may or may not be down to my sound card. I've tried all the advice given but with no luck, can't find anywhere to fiddle with the buffers in the sound card, there's no VSTs to create latency, I'm at a loss other than to change the card. Thanks for the info on the Delta 66, if I can't solve it any other way, i might have to invest in a good card, although I thought I was doing that when I bought the Audigy II Platinum.

Unlike audio interfaces, midi is so slow a protocol that having separate interfaces is not a problem. (Remember that midi was developed on 8Mhz computers on 9600baud serial ports!) All your sequencer has to know is where to grab or send the midi information. I've used a MidisportUSB 2x2 on 3 separate daws with ZERO problems.

i have 2x delta 66's (wordclocked, 8in/8out) and used to have a delta 44. they're great sounding cards and stupidly cheap. you can keep yr audigy and just run MIDI through it, that'll work fine. you will also need a little preamp for the delta card though but you can get a little audio buddy or something pretty cheap as well.

I use a lot of VSTs, an external MIDI keyboard, audio for vocals and guitars etc. I'm quite happy with the Audigy card except for this latency I get when recording/monitoring audio. I understand that the Audigy is primarily a gaming card but I don't have any interest in that, just the recording. 'can you adjust your buffer/latency when you open the asio config?' I haven't tried this yet, I'm at work at the minute, it could be that this will solve my problem, in which case I'll stick with the Audigy. Many thanks for your help
