What model is my 850?

Hi folks,:Banane19: Having just purchased my first Volvo I am wondering what model it is as it has no badging to say what it is? The car is a 95 850 2.5 20v auto saloon fitted with full leather, electric memory drivers seat, wood dash, cruise control, 4x electric windows, climate control and 6 disc CD. Any ideas? Sounds very much like a CD. Hope you have many years of happy motoring in your first Volvo BTW, does the V5 not state which model variant?

Mine's a CD and has the same kit. My registration document doesn't even say it's an 850. It just says Volvo Estate!

The highest spec 850 (not including the R )was/is a GLE and the next step down GLT. The 70 series highest spec (not including the R) was/is CD and the next step down SE. There were changes in the names of the specifications so that is why there is sometimes confusion.

ive got a 850 2.5 10 valve cd and it says 850 cd on the log book ,no cd changer but she has a 12 disc one now:Banane32:

Ahh but did they check back with the factory or just look at the specs? According to the brochures I have seen on the VoC site the CD spec only came in on the very last 850's - a brochure dated August 1995 only goes up to GLT whereas one from May 1996 replaces GLT with CD. From the specs though it does look like GLE/CD specs were basically identical so either way I guess it makes no difference. I still can't get my head around why the GLT gets TRACS as standard and the GLE/CD doesn't mind you. Cheers, John
