Why Won\'t Anyone Comment On My Powered Plug-in Post

A few days ago, I posted a topic about when Digi was going to support the powered plug-ins by Universal Audio. I see guys never getting answered or commented on all the time. However, I thought for sure that powered plug-ins would be of interest to all of us with 001's seeing as how our Macs tell us so quickly to, "Take out some plug-ins, you're running out of cpu power. So what gives?

this is of the more important questions on my mind...but I haven't heard anything beyond that its available for third party development. Ive maxed out at 16 tracks running channel strip on everyone on a G4 400, 256, and a 2nd scsi drive. I m using an external processor for my reverbs. I would love to be able to use all of the mere 24 tracks with a good amount a plugins.

Ah yes, powered plugins would be a dream come true! I'd buy now if it was available. It is my understanding that none of the powered plugins cards work with RTAS or Digi001. Here's to the future! Brian

I called UA and they said Dig has no plans of work with them. in other words, the UAD-1 will never work with PT. Now that doesn't surprise you guys does it?

digi-can you give us any kind of answer as to why you're not working with powercore or u-audio's cards. every other major sequencing program looks as if they will support them..could you give us an answer as to why you "seem" to not be supporting these. i undertand this goes against tdm. but where is your profit center going to be over the next couple of years?

heres a post i did a while back when i first found out that digi may not support either of the cards: technology moves fast. i sure hope digi isn't riding out a dead horse catering to the powerman 5000's and korns of the world with their tdm systems while they let a good thing like powercore and u-audios card pass right before them. a long long time ago and moppy-headed computer nerd by the name of bill gates went to IBM proposing an operating system with the windows concept. instead of buying into the idea, they too passed. and you know the rest of the story. correct me if im wrong. but i don't think IBM make personal computers anymore. i also understand digi's pledge to keep their products free of bugs and completely reliable(if you use their hard/software) which, in deed, it is. but how much longer can you ride out the tdm thing? i read new posts everyday of the newest g4 doing an incredible amounts of plug-ins and dsp processing. think ahead here. if it means that i have to learn an all new layout and key commands to get multiple instances of my favorite plug-ins then i'll do it. mas vst or even God forbid.... PC based dxi c'mon now...some of us are shelling out up to 500 dollars for a plug-in that may only run one instance...and not only that, but will also not allow the other plug-ins to work along side of it. i've spent more money in plug-ins than i have on the digi. which is definantly a hats off and job well done to you guys digi!!! but we'd like to use those plug-ins. and we'd like you to play fair with the third party developers. all the "no talent" hacks in this forum may be your next goldmine. for every bjork or Garbage there may be a couple hundred losers like myself. who spends enough to keep you guys fat and happy. you can't charging what you charge for tdm. i'm not asking to get something for nothing. what i'm asking is for you guys to seriously look into these third party pci card developers. heck, i'd buy YOUR farm cards if they were going to work. speaking of which...would they?

Yet another topic DIGI ignores?!?! How much longer do they think this ostrich tactic will work. Answer us!!!! I was considering purchasing another 001 but with all the new gear that DIGI's competitors are coming out with; they are forcing me to to run to the other guys. I love Pro Tools but when I look at what others are getting for the same price i frown. I want the DSP, I want the plug ins, I want the I/o. Well Digi in a couple of months when im ready to purchase my second system im probably going to get an 828 with 2 digimax's a G4 Blah Blah Blah Mhz and some U/A DSP Cards running Digital Performer or VST. Boy im Glad all Those Plug-ins i have work for multiple platforms. Currently Running G4 350 sawtooth 256 Meg Ram 2 20 Gig Drives PTLE 5.1 Alesis Ai-3 And Tons Of Plug ins So, Come On People Sing Along With Me Now We all now this Tune. Let The Rants Begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke to Universal Audio on Friday last week (phoned them in the US) and the TC Tech support over here (London). Both said the saime thing - that while they would glady support RTAS/Digi hardware (particularly U.A.) currently Digi have not given them permission to develop, nor is there any sign of this happening - despite U.A. mentioning RTAS on their site - bit naughty that! Both basically said that Digi didn't seem interested as it would get a little too close to TDM - bit of a shame that, as this would fill the big hole very nicely. Maybe things will change? Pete
